Intoxicated man threatened tenants

Thursday, February 28, 2019

A very intoxicated man was arrested Feb. 13 after he threatened residents of an apartment building and refused to leave the premises, police said.

Brandon R. Gillette, 40, with no known address, was booked at Clatsop County Jail on suspicion of criminal trespassing, disorderly conduct and menacing. His blood-alcohol content was recorded at 0.22 percent, nearly three times the legal limit.

Residents in the 0-100 block of Alternate Highway 101 told police the man came onto the property from the woods behind the building and was acting strange and making little sense, according to a police report. One resident said the man charged at her, yelled something about a previous property owner and threatened to burn the building down.

Several residents asked him to leave and he refused.

When police arrived about 5 p.m., Gillette was on the ground in front of the building. He smelled strongly of alcohol and his speech was slurred, according to the report.
