Public safety calls for week of April 5

** Warrants

Warrant service, 12:09 p.m. March 28, 1000 block King Salmon Place. Dennis James Wentz, 48, with no known address, was arrested on a Clatsop County parole violation detainer warrant.

Warrant service, 2:11 p.m. March 28, 0-100 block Southwest Main Court. Teddy Ray Slate, 41, of Warrenton was arrested on a felony warrant from Clackamas County.

** Thefts and burglaries

Shoplifting, 6:26 p.m. March 25, Walmart. Craig Michael Stephens, 44, of Garibaldi and Sabrina J. Tomeoni, 30, of Tillamook were cited for criminal third-degree theft after they allegedly attempted to leave the store without paying for $100 in clothes, an air gun and a torch tool. Stephens also was charged with criminal mischief for damaging merchandise packaging.

Shoplifting, 3:45 p.m. March 28, Fred Meyer. Nicholas Ryan Garrett, 28, of Warrenton was cited for criminal second-degree theft after he allegedly attempted to leave the store without paying for $110 in jeans and shoes. Vehicle burglary, 8:45 a.m. March 29, 300 block Southwest Kalmia Avenue. A man reported that someone entered his truck during the night and a $500 HP laptop stolen. The laptop was recovered the following day at a home on Southwest First Place. The couple who lived on First Place had been stopped by another officer about the time of the burglary on the street where the laptop had been stolen.

Theft of news box, 2:49 p.m. March 29, Arnie’s Café. Someone stole the yellow Oregonian newspaper dispenser valued at $750.

Shoplifting, 4 p.m. March 29, Walmart. Jessica I. Weatherly, 28, of Warrenton was cited for attempted third-degree theft, criminal mischief and criminal trespassing. She and another woman ran from the store when approached by store security, but were stopped a short distance away by police. Weatherly has nine prior theft cases at Walmart stores and has been trespassed previously from all Walmart properties, according to a police report.

Theft of glass floats, 3:39 p.m. March 31, 1400 block Southwest Oak Drive. A man reported two large Japanese glass floats valued at $300 were stolen from his porch.

Theft, 5:50 p.m. March 31, Walmart. Colleen M. Baughman, 34, of Warrenton was cited for third-degree theft and criminal mischief after she allegedly attempted to ring up $26 in clothes at the self-scan area using a $1 sales tag.

Shoplifting, 7 p.m. April 1, Walmart. Jessica Lynn Russell, 28, of Astoria was cited for third-degree theft and criminal mischief after she allegedly attempted to leave the store without paying for $93 in sporting goods merchandise.

** Suspicious circumstances/disturbances

Stalking, 9:15 p.m. March 27, 0-100 block Harbor Drive. Kaitlin Danae Hulse, 22, of Damascus was arrested on suspicion of violating a protection order.

Garbage dumping, 2:23 p.m. March 29, Southeast Dolphin Avenue.

Disturbance/male barricaded in house, 12:19 a.m. March 30, 500 block Northwest Ridge Road.

Trespassing, 3:34 p.m. March 30, woods behind Goodwill. During service of a trespassing notice at a homeless camp, Ashley Marie Holmes, 27, of Seaside was arrested on a Clatsop County Circuit Court warrant.

Graffiti on a street sign, 4:30 p.m. April 1, Seventh Avenue near Gray Street, Hammond.

** Vehicles

Drunken driving, 7:34 p.m. March 26, Harbor Drive at Heron. David Engblom, 66, of Astoria was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of intoxicants. He was booked at Clatsop County Jail, where his blood-alcohol content was recorded at 0.12 percent.

Expired plates, 8:02 a.m. March 27, Highway 101 at Neptune. Driver cited.

Speeding, 8:05 a.m. March 30, South Main Avenue at Southwest 14th Place. Driver cited for going 52 in a 35 mph zone.

Failure to drive in lane, 11:33 a.m. March 30, Ensign and Discovery lanes. Driver cited.

Running a stoplight, 7 p.m. March 30, Harbor Drive at Highway 101. Driver cited.

Running a stoplight, 9:54 a.m. March 31, Highway 101 at Ensign Lane. Driver cited for illegal U-turn and failing to obey a traffic-control device.

Running a stoplight, 12:24 p.m. March 31, Highway 101 at Ensign Lane. Driver cited.

Reckless driving, 9:56 p.m. March 31, Fred Meyer gas pumps. Teresa Sue Cunningham, 66, of Ocean Park, Wash., was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of intoxicants/drugs.

Careless driving, 6:02 p.m. April 1, Harbor Drive at Galena Avenue. D’Shawn M. Smith, 32, of Warrenton was cited for criminal failure to carry and present a license, careless driving and driving while suspended.

** Fire and service calls

Fire alarm, 3:30 a.m. March 25, 2300 block Southeast Dolphin Avenue.

Homeless campfire, 2:55 p.m. March 27, in tree line near Ridge Road Soccer Fields.

Possible illegal burn, 9:10 p.m. March 28, 800 block Fifth Avenue.

Possible illegal burn, 4:17 p.m. March 31, north of airport. A man leasing property from the Port of Astoria reported he was conducting a controlled burn. He was advised by the fire chief to have the fire out by sunset or face a citation for violating the city’s burn rules.

Transmission oil on road, 8:47 p.m. March 31, Highway 101 on Youngs Bay Bridge.

Female having difficulty breathing, 10:10 a.m. March 25, 200 block Southwest Second Street. Male with chest pain, 10:39 a.m. March 26, 100 block South Highway 101.

Female passed out in restroom, 1:27 p.m. March 26, 1800 block Southeast Ensign Lane.

Female fall patient, 5:31 p.m. March 26, 2000 block Southeast Dolphin Avenue.

Male with difficulty breathing, 7:34 p.m. March 27, 500 block Northwest Date Avenue.

Female lift assist, 1:52 a.m. March 29, 200 block Southwest Alder Avenue.

Male having seizure, 11:45 a.m. March 29, 1800 block Southeast Ensign Lane.

Female having difficulty breathing, 6:24 p.m. March 29, 1400 block Southwest Alder Avenue.

Male with chest pain, 3:09 p.m. March 30, 0-100 block Southwest Main Court.
