Maddox Dance Studio presents three student recitals

Maddox Dance Studio will present three student dance recitals June 15 and 16 in the auditorium at Astoria High School, 1001 W. Marine Drive.

The first performance, at 2 p.m. Saturday, features young intermediate students to advanced teenagers and young adults. The diverse program includes a can-can by dancers from Little Ballet Theatre, “Why We Tell the Story” from the Broadway musical Once Upon an Island, and a history of tap dance that includes the waltz clog.

The second show at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, will highlight pre-teens through adult dancers in contemporary, hip-hop, ballet, tap and acro-dance. Selections include “White Winter Hymnal,” the Main Street Tappers in “On Broadway” and the senior musical theater performing “The Boy From New York City.” Graduating senior Nara Van De Grift also will perform.

The third show is set for 2 p.m. Sunday and focus on the budding talents of the Creative Movement classes (ages 3-6), plus an appearance by the Little Ballet Theatre dancers in “The Waltz in E Minor” and the senior tap dancers performing a variety of steps.

Maddox Dance Studio faculty will host a cookie reception at the conclusion of each performance.

Tickets, which will be available at the door, are $10 for general admission and $5 for those 65 and older and ages 6 to 12. Children 6 and younger are free.
