Public safety calls for week of Jan. 3

Thefts and burglaries

Theft of propane tanks, 1:06 p.m. Dec. 24, 800 block Seventh Avenue, Hammond. A man reported the theft of two 15-gallon propane tanks from his travel trailer valued at $150.

Shoplifting, 5:35 p.m. Dec. 24, Fred Meyer. Hannah L. Havranek, 28, no known address, was cited for second-degree theft and criminal trespassing after she allegedly attempted to leave the store without paying for $874 in groceries, clothes, backpacks and tools.

Shoplifting, 5:35 p.m. Dec. 26, Walmart. Jaime Lynne Batts, 42, of Seaside was cited for third-degree theft after she allegedly attempted to leave the store without paying for $70 in DVDs.

Stolen cell phone, 11:25 a.m. Dec. 29, 300 block Russell Drive, Hammond. A woman reported her $500 cell phone was stolen from her vehicle during the night.

Suspicious circumstances/disturbances

Trespassing, 10:22 p.m. Dec. 27, Fred Meyer. A man who’d previously been trespassed from the store returned. James N. Zsarko, 40, no known address, was cited for criminal trespassing.

Malicious mischief, 9:41 a.m. Dec. 30, Parkview Apartments. The laundry room door was damaged with an estimated loss of $1,000.

Unlawful dumping, 2:58 p.m. Dec. 23, Rite Aid. A customer became angry when the store refused to give her cash for her empty cans and then refused to take the cans with her when she left.

Vehicles

Three-vehicle collision, minor injuries, 12:42 p.m. Dec. 23, Highway 101 at Harbor Drive. A Jeep Cherokee struck the rear end of a Toyota Corolla that had stopped in traffic, which pushed it into the rear of a Chrysler van. The Jeep’s driver was cited for following too closely.

Running a stoplight, 4:30 p.m. Dec. 23, Highway 101 at Ensign Lane. Driver cited.

Two-vehicle collision, no injuries, 11:54 a.m. Dec. 24, Highway 101 at Premarq Center. One driver cited for failing to yield entering a roadway.

Traffic stop, 4:30 p.m. Dec. 25, Harbor Drive at Pacific Street. Anthony E. Liberty, 28, of Gibraltar, Mich., was cited for criminal failure to carry and present a license.

Three-vehicle collision, possible injury, 1:06 p.m. Dec. 26, Highway 101 at Marlin Avenue. A Toyota Scion struck a Chevy Equinox that was stopped at the intersection, which caused the Equinox to strike at Hyundai Sonata. Injuries were undetermined. The Scion driver was cited for following too closely.

Five-vehicle collision, nine injuries, 2:03 p.m. Dec. 26, Highway 101 at Glenwood Village. Running a stop sign, 1:50 p.m. Dec. 26, South Main Avenue at Southwest Ninth Street. Driver cited.

Hit-and-run collision, 11:35 a.m. Dec. 29, 900 block Peacock Street. A man reported his vehicle was struck the previous day at one of two locations.
