County discovers voter map error

Friday, May 4, 2018

The voters’ pamphlet issued for local races and measures in the May 15 Primary Election contains an incorrect map for the three county commission districts with seats are up for election.

The error was discovered after the pamphlets were printed. The Clatsop County Elections Division will insert into the election ballot packets notices with updated maps alerting voters to the error. Pamphlets were due to arrive in voter mailboxes by April 19.

The correct map is contained in the voters’ pamphlet available on the Clatsop County website, www.co.clatsop.or.us. The website also offers an interactive map allowing voters to enter their address and identify their commissioner district.

The voters’ pamphlet map error does not affect the actual election ballots.

The May election features primary contests for Congress, governor, state legislative seats and judgeships. Local contests include races for Districts 1, 3 and 5 seats on the county board of commissioners, as well as ballot measures for the city of Warrenton, Lewis and Clark and Clatskanie rural fire districts, and Clatsop Care Health District.
