Thefts and burglaries

Shoplifting, 7:09 p.m. May 3, Walmart. Tyler C. Buckner, 24, of Warrenton was cited for third-degree theft after he allegedly attempted to leave the store without paying for a light bar and LED lights valued at $99.

Shoplifting, 9:46 p.m. May 6, Fred Meyer. Hope A. Bodway-McDonald, 21, of Seaside was cited for second-degree theft and Kelli Louise Grieve, 26, of Springfield was cited for third-degree theft after they allegedly attempted to leave the store without paying for cosmetics, DVDs and other merchandise.

Theft, 12:26 p.m. May 8, Ocean Shore Drive at beach. A 48-year-old man was fishing on Clatsop Beach when someone got out of a white Ford pickup and stole his bag of belongings, according to Oregon State Police. Victim was able to track his cell phone and eventually found his bag and belongings farther down the beach.

Shoplifting, 4:27 p.m. May 8, Walmart. Sarah M. Smith, 39, and Nicholas L. Remington, 40, both of Portland, were cited for second-degree theft and criminal mischief after they allegedly attempted to leave the store without paying for $203 in clothes.

Shoplifting, 3:45 p.m. May 9, Walmart. Patricia A. Tewalt, 46, of Seaside was cited for third-degree theft, criminal mischief and criminal trespassing, and Misty V. Alvarez, 40, of Kelso, Wash., was cited for second-degree theft and criminal mischief after they attempted to leave the store without paying for groceries, jewelry, artificial nails and clothes.

Theft, 6:69 p.m. May 10, Walmart. Alexander G. Surovec, 26, of Seaside was cited for second-degree theft after he allegedly attempted to leave the store without paying for $185 in merchandise, including a shop vacuum and blower.

Suspicious circumstances/disturbances

Clamming violation, 8 a.m. May 7, ocean beach. A 58-year-old Warrenton man was cited for knowingly exceeding the daily bag limit of 15 razor clams. He’d taken 21.

Fishing violation, 10:13 a.m. May 7, dock at Fourth Street, Astoria. A 20-year-old commercial fisherman knowingly failed to sell fish to a wholesale fish dealer, according to terms of his license.

People tearing down barricades, 12:59 p.m. May 8, Sunset Boulevard and Tillamook Head Trail, Seaside. Barricades had been placed by the state in accordance with governor’s orders. Felon/prohibited person attempting to purchase a firearm, 3:57 p.m. May 10, Hamlet Quick Stop.

Violation of state orders against large gatherings, 10:59 a.m. May 10, First Baptist Church. Case referred to Clatsop County Health Department.

Disturbance, 10:37 a.m. May 11, Costco. Jon Lee Howell, 56, of Ocean Park, Wash., was cited for harassment after he allegedly caused a disturbance and spit on a manager.

Woman in the highway, 3:51 p.m. May 12, Haven View Drive at Walluski Loop, Astoria. The 28-year-old Astoria woman was given immediate shelter and her parents took her to a drug treatment center, according to Oregon State Police.

Vehicles

Traffic stop, 10:41 p.m. May 7, Highway 101 at Alternate Highway 101. Driver cited for having no license.

Traffic stop, 12:33 a.m. May 8, 400 block South Main Avenue. Brandon D. May, 47, of Warrenton was cited for criminal failure to carry and present a license and for driving while suspended and without insurance.

Two-vehicle collision with injuries, 4:36 p.m. May 8, Highway 26 at Nordmark Drive, a half-mile east of Seaside. A Tacoma man driving a sport-utility vehicle made an illegal U-turn in front of oncoming traffic and was struck by a Dodge pickup whose driver couldn’t stop in time. The SUV driver and a passenger were taken to Providence Seaside Hospital with injuries.

Abandoned vehicle involved in unreported crash, 6:10 a.m. May 9, Highway 30 at Columbia County Line. Vehicle found crashed and abandoned off highway; towed from location.

Single-vehicle crash into earth mound with injury, 4:01 p.m. May 9, Highway 30, one-half mile west of John Day Park. The driver, a 49-year-old woman, was taken to Columbia Memorial Hospital.

Traffic stop, 5:58 a.m. May 11, Ridge Road at Long Lake Drive. Isaiah Allan Carley, 21, of Warrenton was cited for criminal driving while suspended and failing to carry and present a license.

Van into tree, 8:37 a.m. May 11, Highway 202 at Rhodes Road near Jewell. Driver Jordan D Dale, 24, of Eugene sustained a broken leg.
