Local radio begins spring pledge drive

Thursday, March 4, 2021

Coast Community Radio begins its monthlong spring pledge drive March 15.

As the only local noncommercial broadcaster, Coast operates its three stations by relying on funds from the community it serves.

“KMUN is a reflection of the community we serve,” Membership Director Janet Fryberger said. “Listener support facilitates and drives our quest to be a refuge through music programming, and a resource through news and local interest shows.”

Coast Community Radio is supported by members and operated by volunteers and serves a diverse listening audience from Raymond, Wash., to Pacific City.

KMUN-FM is at 91.9 and considered the flagship station after 38 years in Astoria. Its format includes local news, public affairs and an eclectic mix of locally hosted music shows along with programs from National Public Radio and other independent sources.

Sister station KTCB 89.5 carries the KMUN broadcast to listeners in Tillamook, while a third station, KCPB 90.9, broadcasts a separate mix of news and classical music.
