Thursday, May 20, 2021

Clatsop Community College board members will review the institution’s budget during a meeting June 13.

The college’s Budget Committee, which is composed of board members and members of the community, gave the fiscal year 2021-22 budget a preliminary approval on May 4.

All aspects of the budget were reviewed with a focus on enrollment challenges and projections for the coming year, administrators said. Key points of the proposed budget show similar financial support from the state and timber revenues and an estimated 4 percent increase from property taxes. No tuition or fee increases are proposed.

Enrollment for the coming year appear to be climbing after a significant dip during the past year due to COVID-19. Full-time enrollment is projected at 1050, up from 950 FTE during the past year.

“The proposed budget has CCC on sound fiscal footing, allowing for continued excellence in instruction and service to our students,” President Chris Breitmeyer said.

The public has an opportunity to comment on the budget at the meeting, which is set for 6:30 p.m. June 13 in Columbia Hall Room 219. The new budget takes effect on July 1, 2021.
