Nutcracker tickets sales start Monday

Friday, October 12, 2018

Tickets go on sale Oct. 15 for the 44th season of the Little Ballet Theatre’s “Nutcracker.”

“Nutcracker” includes a cast of 80 dancers, a 55-piece orchestra conducted by Cory Pedersen, and a 12-voice choir.

The performance is suitable for all ages and takes the audience on a magical journey to 1840, at the Stahlbaum family holiday party. The mysterious Dr. Drosselmeyer brings a mechanical doll, a pair of tumbling harlequins, and a lovable dancing bear to entertain the elegantly dressed guests. He presents a special gift to the Stahlbaum’s daughter, Clara: a nutcracker.

Guest artists Elizabeth Barretto and Andrew Taft, principal dancers from Boise-based Ballet Idaho, will appear through the courtesy of Garrett Anderson, the group’s artistic director.

Performances, which are in the Astoria High School Auditorium, are at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2.

Reserved tickets are available online through the Liberty Theatre website and at the Liberty Theatre box office. General admission tickets are available at Maddox Dance Studio in Warrenton and at the Astoria High School Auditorium an hour prior to each performance.
