The Warriors came back from an 0-2 deficit in Rainier to defeat the Rainier Columbians last Saturday.

They took the best three of five sets to determine the No. 1 ranking in league for the state playoffs.

“This is a somewhat common experience being down 0-2 in important games,” said Robert Hoepfl, Warrenton’s athletic director. “I just knew we’d come back and win, though. This game just simply identified who was the district champion.

“And, guess what? We are. It was one of the most incredible high school volleyball games I have ever witnessed.”

Claire Bussert was voted League Player of the Year.

“We played badly in the beginning,” Bussert said. “But we knew we still had three more sets, three more chances, and I didn’t see us giving up. And we didn’t.”

The Warriors will play a No. 2-ranked team in a league and location to be determined.
