** Thefts and burglaries

Stolen cell phone, 9:13 p.m. Dec. 21, Dollar Tree. A woman reported setting her LG Silo phone down on a shelf and forgetting it and when she contacted the store later, it was gone.

Theft by fraud, 1:40 p.m. Dec. 21, Petco. A man and woman worked together to complete returns of merchandise on four separate occasions using receipts. However, the items were actually taken from store shelves just prior to the returns.

Shoplifting, 2:24 p.m. Dec. 22, Walmart. A male in his 20s entered the store with unused Walmart bags, filled them with $301 in clothes, video games and cell phones, but was stopped as he attempted to leave without paying for them. The man ran away headed north on Highway 101.

Shoplifting, 2:48 p.m. Dec. 23, Rite Aid. A female in her 30s stole two power cords and two bicycle lights and speakers valued at $84 and ran from the store manager when confronted. She was last seen hiding behind a trash bin and then headed north to Harbor Drive.

Shoplifting, 5 p.m. Dec. 23, Walmart. Hailey M. Pentilla, 18, was cited for third-degree theft after she allegedly attempted to leave the store without paying for $50 in makeup and clothes.

Shoplifting, 11:30 p.m. Dec. 23, Walmart. Saralee J. Stemper Elliott, 37, of Astoria was cited for criminal third-degree theft and criminal mischief after she allegedly attempted to leave the store without paying for merchandise.

Shoplifting, 5:58 p.m. Dec. 24, Walmart. Christopher J. Beeman, 36, of Warrenton was cited for third-degree theft, criminal mischief and criminal trespassing after he allegedly attempted to leave the store without paying for $13 in toys and food and then fled on foot when confronted by security. He’d previously been trespassed from the store.

Stolen utility trailer, 1:42 p.m. Dec. 25, 1000 block Southeast Marlin Avenue. Someone stole a Cargo Mate utility trailer valued at $4,800 from the business.

Theft from construction trailer, 2:24 p.m. Dec. 26, 0-100 block Northwest Kalmia Avenue. Someone cut the lock off a cargo trailer and took two tool boxes and new hand tools valued at $1,000 to $1,500.

Theft of propane tank cover from trailer, 10:48 a.m. Dec. 27, 900 block Southeast Anchor Avenue. Value of lost item estimated at $150.

Vehicle burglary, 11:33 a.m. Dec. 27, Fred Meyer parking lot. Taken were two gift cards, $50 cash and 20 oxycodone tablets.

Shoplifting, 4 p.m. Dec. 27, Fred Meyer. Robert William Perry, 34, of Seaside was cited or criminal second-degree theft and criminal mischief after he allegedly attempted to leave the store without paying for $114 in clothes.

** Suspicious circumstances/disturbances

Drinking in public, 1:11 p.m. Dec. 22, Ensign Lane west of Highway 101. A 32-year-old North Carolina man was cited.

Domestic violence, 3:03 p.m. Dec. 22, 1500 block Pacific Ridge Lane. Sara Jane Welch, 56, of Hammond was arrested on suspicion of fourth-degree assault and harassment after getting into a physical fight with a roommate over turning up the thermostat.

Disturbance, 7:15 p.m. Dec. 23, Home Depot. When a store employee confronted a woman suspected of shoplifting, she created a loud disturbance and eventually fled the area, leaving the merchandise behind.

Trespassed subject has returned to store, 5:44 p.m. Dec. 24, Walmart. Thai Demetrius Clappe, 36, of Astoria was cited for criminal trespassing.

Two males prowling around vehicles, 1:01 p.m. Dec. 26, Youngs Bay Plaza. Christopher Austin Hutchinson, 38, with no known address, was arrested on and outstanding warrant and booked at Clatsop County Jail.

Malicious mischief, 10 a.m. Dec. 27, Warrenton Marina parking lot. Someone cut ropes and put holes in the metal mesh of crab pots owned by a commercial fisherman.

Traffic stop, 9:34 a.m. Dec. 23, Highway 101 at Marlin Avenue. Driver cited for having no valid operator’s license.

Running a stop sign, 6 p.m. Dec. 23, Ridge Road at Southwest Ninth Street. Driver cited.

Pickup truck vs. elk, 9:53 p.m. Dec. 24, Northwest Warrenton Drive near dog park. Driver was uninjured, but elk was euthanized.

Speeding, 7:20 a.m. Dec. 25, Harbor Drive at Southeast King Street. Driver cited for going 57 in a 35 mph zone.

Illegal U-turn, 2:20 p.m. Dec. 27, Ensign and Discovery lanes. Driver cited for illegal U-turn and driving without insurance.

Three-vehicle noninjury collision, 4:54 p.m. Dec. 27, Highway 101 at Glenwood Village.

Two-vehicle noninjury crash, 2:07 p.m. Dec. 29, Burma Road at Fort Stevens State Park.

Two-vehicle noninjury crash, 4:46 p.m. Dec. 29, Highway 101 near Ross Dress for Less.

Single vehicle off road, no injuries, 4:19 p.m. Dec. 30, Highway 101 at Glenwood Village.

Fire alarm activation, 9:49 p.m. Dec. 28, 100 block South Highway 101.
