Carolyn Jarvis
Thursday, January 10, 2019

Carolyn Jarvis, a former bookkeeper and business owner and nearly lifelong Warrenton resident, died Dec. 25 at her home. She was 76.

She was born Carolyn Kunkler in Okmulgee, Okla., and moved to Warrenton with her family when she was 5. She attended Warrenton schools and graduated in 1960.

She raised two children, Donna and Kelly, and married Wayne Jarvis in 1974.

Mrs. Jarvis worked at the former Pop’s Restaurant in Warrenton, for Bumble Bee Seafoods and at Pig ’N Pancake for 20 years, where she was known as “CJ.” She was co- owner and bookkeeper for Jarvis Roofing.

Carolyn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She and Wayne loved traveling together and watching wildlife.

She spent many hours watching her grandchildren wrestle and play football, basketball, and baseball. Most recently she has been watching her great-grandchildren play those same sports.

She will be remembered by her family as “Granny” and someone they could count on, someone who would always be there for them. She was proud of each of them.

Her grandchildren were the light of her life and enjoyed the time spent with her.

Mrs. Jarvis attended a Christmas celebration Dec. 22 at her grandson’s home in Riddle. On that day she was smiling, fist-bumping and hugging her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne; sons Kelly Jensen of Gold Hill and Tim Jarvis of Portland; daughters Donna Mullins of Warrenton and Theresa Pounds of Belfair, Wash.; brothers Harold Kunkler of Camas, Wash., and Doll Horner of John Day, 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A private memorial will be held. The family recommends making contributions in her name to the Wildlife Center of the North Coast, PO Box 1232, Astoria OR 97103.
