The silvery luster of a snowy coastal morning

Residents awoke Monday (Feb. 4) to a blanket of snow on everything. School officials throughout Clatsop County and much of the coast kept campuses closed for safety reasons. The small downtown park that's home to the new veterans memorial looked like a snowy New England wonderland. The snow was short-lived, however, and by noon there was very little white stuff left on the ground. Freezing temperatures and a chance of snowfall are in the future, however. The next two weeks are expected to remain quite cold.
